Manufacturing Manager
We are seeking a talented Manufacturing Manager, this is a hands-on role that requires actively engaging on the production floor, collaborating closely with Supervisors, Maintenance, Quality, Technical teams, and Operators to develop, evaluate, and continuously improve manufacturing methods through best practices, automation & cross training employees. This position involves optimizing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness by analyzing workflows, space, equipment layout, and resource utilization, and directly supporting lean production practices.
Some of the responsibilities are:
- Leadership of the day-to-day Manufacturing floor operations.
- Optimize manufacturing strategies to align with company goals for efficient and cost-effective production processes.
- Monitor manufacturing metrics, such as cycle time, scrap rate, labor utilization, etc. to drive data-informed process improvements.
- Lead a team of Supervisors, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to foster a collaborative, improvement-focused culture.
- Train technical & setup teams on new processes and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning & improvement.
- Work closely with Director of Production to meet customer demand schedules & guide department direction.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Kaizen, and other methodologies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and uphold quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, product specifications, and regulatory requirements through robust quality control processes, audits, and corrective actions.
- Enforce safety regulations, conduct safety inspections, and implement corrective measures to promote a safe working environment.
- Manage the manufacturing operations budget, focusing on optimal resource utilization and cost control.
- Prepare and present reports on key performance indicators, production efficiency, and improvement initiatives, providing data-driven recommendations for operational enhancements.
- Provide time estimates and process recommendations for quoting new jobs.
- Evaluate manufacturability of conceptual and preliminary designs, offering constructive feedback to enhance production efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior management on make-vs-buy decisions based on machine capabilities, costs, and shop capacities.
- Partner with the Director of Production to develop routings for internally produced parts, optimizing for lean production and minimized cycle time.
- Interpret GD&T requirements to support efficient manufacturing processes.
- Work with vendors to establish product specifications, arrange for equipment purchases, and ensure material quality.
- Remains current on all customer specific requirements (e.g. MMOG, Ford DDL, GM 1700).
- Utilize statistical methods to calculate production, labor, and material costs, manage schedules, estimate future requirements, and prepare related reports.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in manufacturing operations management, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and quality management systems.
- Proficiency in using manufacturing software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve performance targets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.

OEM Sales Manager is responsible to achieve annual sales and/or profit goals through efficient management and satisfaction of customer needs within the assigned territory with a primary focus on OEM’s, Tier1 and Tier 2 suppliers in the (Automotive, Heavy Duty, Agriculture and Industrial) markets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To:
- Drive Elgin’s initiatives with OEMs, providing exceptional service to OEMs, distributors, and direct accounts, while adhering to company values.
- Ensure Elgin is effectively represented in both current and potential OEM customer opportunities that align with our strategic goals, prioritizing those that offer the best fit for long-term success.

Requirements:
Must have at least 3+ years of experience with a proven track record of significant sales accomplishments with OEM’s in the Automotive, Heavy Duty and Industrial markets.
Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, or other business field.

QA Floor Inspector
Join our dedicated team in the manufacturing industry, specializing in high-quality push rod parts. We are committed to excellence in precision and quality in every product we produce. We seek a Floor Inspector to ensure our products meet the highest standards. If you have experience in rubbing inspection, lab testing, and can communicate effectively we want to hear from you!
Position Summary:
The QA Floor Inspector is responsible for ensuring that our parts meet rigorous quality standards and specifications before they proceed to the next stage of production. This role involves inspecting materials, in-process and finished parts, recording findings, and communicating any quality issues to the production and quality control teams. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, knowledge of quality control standards, and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough inspections of products and materials to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Checks product using P.S.S. and blue print (as applicable)
- Operates various testing equipment, such as calipers, gauges, hardness testers to accurately assess product dimensions and characteristics.
- Identifies and document defects, discrepancies, or non-conformities in products or processes. Determine whether defects are within acceptable tolerances or require corrective actions. Collaborate to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- Rejects non-conforming product and initiates reaction plan to DMR product as needed
- Conducts sign off for all process (first piece/last piece)
- Uses the Elgin Inventory Management System/Paperless System to scan product for accurate processing.
- Provides support and assistance to employees with Elgin Inventory Management System/Paperless System
- Understands production processes and continuously monitors them to ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing cycle. Works with production teams to address quality issues and enhance processes.
- Ensures testing equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Conduct informative training sessions, both in-classroom and on the production floor, on quality control procedures, standards, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in quality inspection are a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience and or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience in a quality assurance or inspection role in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the automotive or metalworking industries.
- Strong understanding of quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and related standards (e.g., ISO).
- Proficient in using inspection tools, reading blueprints, and understanding technical specifications.-
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inspections.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Ability to identify and report non-conformities effectively.
- Fluency in Spanish (plus)
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Control Room Operator
Elgin Industries is looking for a Control Room Operator to join our dynamic 3rd shift team located in Elgin, Illinois!
As a Control Room Operator you will control furnaces that perform hardening, carburizing, annealing and tempering of steel. You will oversee and at times assist in performing secondary Operations, such as shot blasting, tumbling, racking, straightening, preparing loads and washing.
Key Responsibilities:
Operates our Modern “State of the Art” Distributive Control System over all heat treat furnaces.
Directs up to three subordinate furnace handlers (Heat Treaters).
Provides forklift support to furnace handlers as needed.
Processes heat treat requirements through close interaction with our Heat Treat Supervisor.
Performs furnace control verifications using batch reports and infrared gas analyzers.
Handles related paperwork and sign-offs.
Operates forklifts, overhead cranes as needed.
Assists furnace handlers (Heat Treaters) as needed.
Performs preventive and minor maintenance as needed.
Fills in for absent employees if needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and/or move over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
